Job summary

The University System of Georgia is seeking a Senior Compensation Analyst to provide analytical and operational support for systemwide job architecture, classification, and compensation activities. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Five or more years of experience in compensation/HRS data analytics is required.
  • Experience in a public sector or higher education setting is preferred.
  • Experience with compensation tools Payscale and Salary.com is preferred.
  • Familiarity with salary surveys (CUPA-HR, Mercer, WTW, Culpepper) is preferred.
  • WorldatWork CCP certification is advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with structured data and standardized processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support systemwide job analysis and classification activities by reviewing job documentation and ensuring alignment with established standards.
  • Collect, validate, and organize compensation and job data to support salary studies, market reviews, and reclassification efforts.
  • Research and compile external labor market and salary survey data to support compensation benchmarking and analysis.
  • Maintain accurate job architecture documentation, classification records, job description libraries, and compensation-related data files.
  • Prepare compensation reports for internal review and reporting.
  • Support the use, maintenance, and reporting of data in compensation tools and HR systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Workday).
  • Respond to compensation-related inquiries by providing guidance on established processes and documentation requirements.

Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell.

Job Summary

The Senior Compensation Analyst provides analytical and operational support for systemwide job architecture, classification, and compensation activities across the University System of Georgia (USG). Based at the USG System Office, this role supports standardized compensation processes by assisting with job analysis, data collection, market research, and compensation reporting in support of consistent, data-driven practices across all USG institutions. This position is located in downtown Atlanta and is fully on-site. Expected hiring range for this role is $70,000 to $88,000, commensurate with directly related experience, education, and certifications.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Five (5) or more years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.Five (5) or more years of experience in Human Resources, Compensation, and/or HR data analytics, at least three of which must have been in compensation. Experience in a public sector or higher education setting.Experience with compensation tools such Payscale and/or Salary.comFamiliarity with a variety of salary surveys (e.g., CUPA-HR, Mercer, WTW, Culpepper).Experience using enterprise level ERP/HRIS systems such as Workday.Completion or significant progress toward completion of WorldatWork CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) certification.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.Strong attention to detail and ability to work with structured data and standardized processes.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to collect, review, and analyze data accurately and consistently.
  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Excel and experience with ERP / HRIS systems and compensation management tools.
  • Compensation Fundamentals: Understanding of compensation principles, job documentation, and market data concepts.
  • Process Adherence: Ability to follow standardized methodologies, guidelines, and documentation requirements.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal partners.
  • Organization & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain data accuracy.
