Job summary

You will install and maintain Avaya systems, lead local contractors, support carrier services, provide first-level training to field staff, and ensure operational standards across projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree in Electronics or 7+ years of equivalent field experience.
• 7+ years of experience installing and maintaining Avaya telecommunications systems.
• Hands‑on experience with telecom test equipment and diagnostic software.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and system maintenance capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks without direct supervision.
• Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and safely operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide national telecommunications field support across a large geographic area.

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Avaya communications systems (CM, Session Manager, System Manager, G430/G450 gateways, voicemail).
• Support implementation of new systems in partnership with project teams.
• Perform preventative maintenance, fault isolation, and advanced troubleshooting.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for communications systems.
• Act as liaison between field operations and IT/communications engineering teams.
• Direct and manage local contractors for telecom installations and maintenance.
• Support carrier services for provisioning, installation, and troubleshooting of voice and data infrastructure.
• Deliver first-level training and technical support to field operations personnel.
• Promote field standards and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
