Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Communications Network Engineer Senior to support a federal defense organization with enterprise collaboration and mission-critical systems. On-site in Norfolk, VA or Washington, DC, you will design, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain LAN/WAN environments with Cisco equipment.

Role requires DoD security standards, TCP/IP mastery, and DoD clearance. Expect coordination across large-scale networks and system migrations to enable secure government operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of enterprise network administration experience.
• Hands-on LAN/WAN experience with large-scale networks.
• Experience configuring Cisco routers and switches.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network architecture.
• CCNA certification and IATII certification required.
• Active Secret Clearance required for DoD work.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, and network environments.
• Configure Cisco routers, switches, and related devices.
• Analyze performance, identify issues, and implement fixes to ensure availability.
• Support large-scale network integration and migrations.
• Plan upgrades, cutovers, and technology refresh initiatives.
• Coordinate with end users, admins, and remote sites for changes.
• Perform testing and validation during deployments.
• Maintain network diagrams, configs, and change logs.
• Work with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure secure operations.
