Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in the Baltimore-Washington metro area is seeking a Communications Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems Developer. The role focuses on developing, testing, and integrating software for EW capabilities to counter UAS and RCIED threats, with a strong emphasis on DSP, embedded systems, and field testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • At least five years of experience developing and integrating code (C, C++, Python, MATLAB) for communications, EW, or tactical systems.
  • Experience in hardware and software testing with embedded communication systems.
  • Documenting and maintaining software code bases using Gitlab, Bitbucket, or Confluence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and ability to work in a multifunctional team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms for deployment on tactical hardware using DSP and wireless protocol techniques.
  • Test and evaluate using lab equipment like spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and SDR/protocol analyzers.
  • Analyze trade-offs for performance and hardware utilization at the system level.
  • Apply technical knowledge during field and laboratory test events.
  • Collaborate with a high-performing team to achieve shared success.
