Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Communications Electronic Warfare Systems Developer to help design, implement, and validate software for countering UAS and RCIED threats. You will work on algorithms deployed on tactical hardware, perform lab-based testing, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver secure, high-performance communication solutions.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in a technical field and 5+ years of code development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • At least five years of experience developing and integrating code (C, C++, Python, MATLAB) for communications, electronic warfare, or tactical systems.
  • Experience in hardware and software testing with embedded communications systems.
  • Experience documenting code using Gitlab, Bitbucket, or Confluence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and ability to work in a multifunctional, collaborative team.
  • Willing to travel to off-site facilities for integration and test events.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret clearance with U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop algorithms for deployment on tactical hardware using DSP and wireless protocols.
  • Test and evaluate with lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, SDRs) to verify software.
  • Analyze trade-offs for performance and hardware utilization; derive actionable insights.
  • Provide technical expertise during field and laboratory test and evaluation events.
  • Collaborate within a high-performing, knowledge-rich team.
