Job summary

Hgen is seeking a Senior Commissioning & Field Engineer to lead the commissioning and deployment of electrolyzer modules from factory to customer sites nationwide. You will ensure systems are ready for delivery and plan integration at customer facilities in a fast-paced startup environment.

Based in Hawthorne, CA, this role requires coordinating test plans, field execution, and collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and fluid teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience developing and commissioning control systems in hydrogen production or related industries.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, fluid, power, and control systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on-site in Hawthorne, CA.
• Able to travel to US sites around 20% time.

Responsibilities

• Devise, author, review, and execute test plans for factory acceptance testing, certification, and checkouts at customer sites
• Develop clear plans for transit, including preparation and lifting operations
• Coordinate mechanical, fluid, and electrical work at customer sites in advance of and during deployment, including sourcing and managing remote vendors and contractors
• Develop and execute maintenance procedures and schedules at customer sites
• Create and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and the component and instrumentation lists for deployments and key test configurations
• Track, organize, and manage spare parts inventory for maintenance
• Support development testing and test stand upgrades as needed
• Other duties as assigned

As a Senior Commissioning & Field Engineer, you will lead the commissioning and deployment of the electrolyzer modules in our factory and at the customer sites around the country. Your testing will ensure that our systems are ready for delivery and that we have a clear plan for how to deliver and integrate the electrolyzer modules at our customers' facilities. Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, aerospace, electrical, etc.)
• 5+ years of experience developing and commissioning control systems in hydrogen production, fuel cells, oil and gas, chemical plants, energy infrastructure or other relevant industries
• Strong understanding of fundamental principles in mechanical, fluid, power, and control systems
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
• Able to work on-site in Hawthorne, CA
• Ability to travel to sites around the US (approx 20% time), including extended travel (about 1 month) for deployments

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Proven ability to interface with multidisciplinary functions of mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems
• Experience and demonstrated proficiency in developing and implementing comprehensive work instructions and test procedures
• A history of working directly with hardware and subsystems including, instrumentation, power systems, hazardous fluids, and structures in a controlled environment
• Familiarity with industrial controls & data acquisition systems including Beckhoff TwinCAT and Ignition HMI platforms
• Experience with Class I Div 2 hazardous environments, high and low voltage AC and DC systems
• Knowledge of fluid components and instruments (pumps and motors, valves, regulators, heat exchangers, flow meters) and high power electrical systems (switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, VFDs)
