Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services Inc. is seeking a Production Underwriter to grow profitable commercial lines business within a territory, traveling to insurance agencies to foster relationships and promote AmTrust products.

You will collaborate with underwriting to assess risk, review loss histories, and ensure compliance with pricing standards for new and renewing accounts. You will leverage industry knowledge of casualty, property, automobile, workers’ compensation and umbrella coverages, while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a background in insurance or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of underwriting and marketing experience in commercial lines.
• Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, PLU, etc.
• CPCU or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to create business opportunities by demonstrating excellent underwriting skills and product knowledge.
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial casualty, property, automobile, workers’ compensation and umbrella insurance.
• Willingness to travel 2–3 days per week to visit agents in the designated territory.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with key agents and provide underwriting guidance.
• Write and retain a profitable book of business through risk analysis, pricing and servicing.
• Comply with state filings and corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
• Collaborate with territory team and keep colleagues informed of issues and activity.
• Develop and implement the territory business plan and meet territory goals.
• Select, price, and develop coverage terms for commercial lines accounts.
• Manage a territory of independent agents to meet profitability and growth objectives.
• Review new business applications and accept/decline risks per underwriting policies.
• Maintain relationships with agents and communicate underwriting decisions.
• Travel within territory to meet with agents and producers and participate in industry events.
• Provide information and guidance to support staff for processing coverage requests.
