Job summary

Acuity Insurance is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter to select, retain and price commercial risks in accordance with underwriting policies. This role collaborates with a designated group of agents to develop a profitable, growing book of business.

The successful candidate will have at least five years of underwriting experience, a college degree, and CPCU/CIC preferred, with strong communication and analytical skills, and will participate in training and risk improvement

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience; CPCU, CIC or similar preferred.
• At least five years experience as a commercial underwriter.
• Ability to underwrite large, complex accounts; strong pricing knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Review quotes and new applications to determine underwriting decisions.
• Review renewal business and set pricing decisions.
• Maintain productive relationships with agents and the Sales Dept.
• Recommend additional coverages and policy amendments.
• Coordinate with loss control to improve risks.
• Assist in underwriting trainee training.
• Regular attendance and other duties as assigned.
