Job summary

Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company in Minneapolis seeks a Risk Control Specialist to assist underwriting by evaluating risks, conducting on-site risk control visits, and documenting building and operation details.

You will analyze construction practices, identify weaknesses, and propose corrective measures while coordinating with agents and insureds. A Degree and relevant licensing are preferred; extensive travel is required.

Qualifications

• Locate and extract essential construction elements from blueprints and apply basic construction math.
• Understand construction practices (excavation, concrete, structural techniques, plumbing, HVAC, electrical).
• Work with minimal supervision; strong time management and planning.
• Solid computer skills; input and access data on company and portable devices.
• Ability to evaluate structures by walking, climbing, bending and stooping.
• Strong interpersonal skills; positive professional image.
• Extensive travel by air and driving; valid driver’s license and clean record.
• Interface effectively with external contacts and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide Underwriting with an overall opinion of insureds desirability.
• Conduct on-site risk control evaluations of policyholders.
• Describe insureds operations and ministry profile.
• Analyze existing accounts to verify construction class and building valuation.
• Identify risk control weaknesses and suggest corrective measures.
• Respond to agent and insured inquiries on risk control issues.
• Complete the designated number of risk control visits set by management.
• Ensure risk control reports meet underwriting requirements.
• Maintain a professional image in written communications.
• Assist with training of agents on risk control issues.
• Maintain expenses within department parameters.
• Complete other projects as assigned.
