Job summary

Shulman Rogers Gandal Pordy & Ecker seeks a Senior Title Attorney with 7–10 years of real estate experience to handle title, survey, and closing matters for commercial transactions across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The attorney will advise developers, lenders, investors, and families, with oversight from partners.

The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, sound business judgment, and the ability to manage complex matters while coordinating with senior partners.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership, preferably in MD or DC; VA a plus.
• 7–10 years of real estate law experience with title, survey, and closing work.
• Knowledge of commercial title insurance, endorsements, escrow procedures, and closing practices.

Responsibilities

• Review title commitments, exception documents, surveys, easements, restrictions, covenants, and other recorded instruments.
• Identify title defects and negotiate resolutions, endorsements, indemnities, escrows, and other risk-management measures.
• Manage due diligence and closings for acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, and financings.
• Underwrite and coordinate title insurance and escrow matters.
• Advise clients on local title practices, transfer and recordation taxes, entity considerations, and closing requirements.
• Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, easement agreements, development agreements, operating agreements, and related documents.
