Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Property Adjuster to investigate commercial property claims, evaluate coverage, and manage settlements. You will coordinate with consultants, maintain loss estimates, and communicate clearly with insured clients while ensuring fair handling and timely decisions.

The role requires knowledge of property insurance, strong investigative and negotiation skills, and readiness to travel for catastrophe-related assignments.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of property insurance; commercial property claims; coverage evaluation; claims investigation, loss assessment, evaluation and reserves; financial analyses; insurance regulations; negotiation and settlement of moderate complexity claims.
• 18+ months of progressively responsible experience.
• Ability and willingness to travel to catastrophe sites for assignments lasting several weeks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prompt, thorough and fair investigation to determine coverage, origin, and extent of loss.
• Review financial statements to adjust moderately sized business interruption losses.
• Conduct on-site appraisal or direct independent adjuster to determine facts relevant to causation, damages and exposure.
• Engage and manage consultants and independent adjusters; monitor costs.
• Maintain accurate loss cost estimates and reserves for claims.
• Inform insured and others about claim status with clear communications; handle depreciation.
• Affirm or deny coverage based on policy terms; prepare payments as appropriate.
• Meet policy time requirements and fair claims handling practices.
• Negotiate settlements of claims of varying complexity and perils.
• Keep electronic claim files well documented.
• Participate in quality assurance reviews and serve as a technical resource.
• May be called for catastrophe duty.
