This full-time role supports a Raleigh-area commercial painting contractor with leadership influence, requiring hands-on estimating, accurate takeoffs, and effective communication with construction partners.

The ideal candidate will perform detailed takeoffs, review plans, and manage multiple estimates, contributing to bid strategy and mentoring junior estimators.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of commercial painting estimating experience.
• Strong proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and understanding of commercial paint scopes.
• Proven ability to estimate projects from small commercial work to multi-million-dollar jobs.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to speak directly with GCs and clients.
• Ability to produce complete, accurate takeoffs independently.
• Leadership-oriented mindset and willingness to mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed, accurate takeoffs using OST and prepare professional proposals.
• Review plans, specs, and docs; request clarifications from general contractors and project managers as needed.
• Submit bids, follow up with clients, and communicate throughout the bidding process.
• Manage multiple estimates and maintain organized tracking through internal tools.
• Collaborate with the owner and team on cost structures, production assumptions, and bid strategy.
• Provide guidance to junior estimators; train and mentor is a strong plus.
• Participate in occasional working sessions or demonstrations of estimating capability.
