Job summary

Ellington Mechanical is seeking a Senior Commercial HVAC Service Technician with controls experience to diagnose, service, and repair complex commercial HVAC systems across the Washington, D.C. and Maryland region.

You will work closely with ownership, manage projects from diagnosis to operation, and ensure high standards of customer service. The role requires extensive HVAC experience, EPA 608 certification, and the ability to read complex plans and wiring diagrams.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10+ years of HVAC experience within commercial settings.
• Substantial commercial HVAC service experience.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and diagnostic skills.
• EPA 608 Universal certification.
• Ability to read mechanical plans, equipment schedules, submittals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer procedures.
• Able to work independently and take ownership of assigned work.
• Comfort working on rooftops and climbing ladders.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain commercial HVAC systems.
• Read and interpret plans, diagrams, schedules and manufacturer procedures.
• Brazing with nitrogen, vacuum testing, evacuating systems, charging refrigerant as needed.
• Install refrigerant piping, condensate piping, controls and low-voltage wiring.
• Explain findings clearly to customers and company ownership.
• Maintain safety and perform work with minimal supervision.
