Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine Facilities Services has an opening for a State of Texas Journeyman Electrician with knowledge in renovations of office space and labs, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of motor controllers, data logging and metering of electrical system. Knowledge of the NEC and NFPA 70E is required.

This position supports critical research, clinical, and campus facilities through electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, renovations, lighting upgrades, and electrical system

Qualifications

• Must hold a State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License.
• Four years of relevant electrical experience.
• High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• remodel administrative, clinical and research office space, clinical and basic science research labs and vivarium areas at main campus and satellite facilities.
• Read, understand and comply with local and state building code regulations (NFPA 70E and NEC).
• Read and understand blueprints for remodeling of office spaces, labs and vivarium facilities.
• Generate an electrical materials list and order materials.
• Run conduit from sizes ½” to 4” EMT and rigid; install various receptacles, switches, and wire mold in offices and labs.
• Install transformers and panels up to 480V to upgrade existing electrical system per NEC.
• Follow safety procedures by the NFPA and OSHA.
• Pull wires per NEC; ensure correct conduit sizing and space for future circuits.
• Install and terminate wire circuits in transformers, panels and motor starters; coordinate with Energy Management to operate via building energy management system.
• Install and terminate receptacles, switches, and wire mold; coordinate with clinical and research personnel for proper equipment plug receptacles.
• Preventative maintenance and testing of electrical systems; infrared thermography on panels, transformers and motor starters; ensure no hot spots.
