Job summary

Texas Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our Facilities team. The successful candidate will maintain electrical distribution systems and repair electrical systems across the campus.

The ideal candidate brings a minimum of six years’ trade experience, a valid electrical journeyman license, and the ability to read blueprints and follow NEC regulations. A driver’s license is required and a standard Monday–Friday schedule with an on-call rotation is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 years trade experience.
• Electrical journeyman’s license required.
• Thirty semester hours of college in electrical trades preferred (six in algebra).
• Must have valid driver’s license and meet driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Repairs or replaces motors, generators, fans, lamps, ballasts and major equipment components.
• Plan, lay out, install and repair conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.
• Conform to City of San Antonio codes and NEC for installations or repairs.
• Test electrical systems and circuits using meg-ohmmeters, voltmeters and ammeters; record results.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, including control sequences, to install power per the plans.
