Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to support the Americas Sales team. You will lead negotiations on complex commercial agreements, advise on new products and international expansion, and partner with Product Legal to bring features to market.

The role emphasizes drafting, playbooks, and process improvement while leveraging AI to boost efficiency. The position requires a JD or foreign equivalent and US bar admission, strong communication, and an ownership mindset to guide

Qualifications

JD or foreign equivalent and bar admission in at least one US state
8+ years of relevant legal experience in-house or at a top law firm
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to guide cross-functional teams to address business needs and legal risks
Experience with AI to improve legal processes is a plus
Familiarity with data protection laws (CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA) is desirable

Responsibilities

Lead negotiations for complex and strategic commercial agreements in the Americas
Advise on commercial and legal issues related to new products and international expansion
Collaborate with Product Legal to bring new products to market
Draft and maintain agreements, playbooks, and internal processes
Utilize AI tools to improve team efficiency and outputs
Serve as escalation point for outside counsel
Develop and deliver training/resources for the Sales team
