Job summary

Nex, based in San Jose, California, is seeking an experienced commercial attorney to lead legal support for its content and partnerships ecosystem on a remote basis. You will partner with Content, Partnerships, and Business Development to negotiate licensing, publishing, and IP deals while supporting vendor, manufacturing, and hardware contracts as needed.

This hands-on role focuses on building a scalable playbook for a growing platform business, with opportunities to shape Nex's legal function

Qualifications

• Hold a J.D. and active bar membership (California or another U.S. state).
• 7–10+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience.
• Experience negotiating publishing/content licensing deals.
• Entrepreneurial environment comfort and proactivity.
• Clear, business-focused written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate content, developer, and licensing agreements.
• Lead brand licensing negotiations and strategic partnerships.
• Provide secondary review on vendor, hardware, and distribution agreements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Content, Partnerships, and Product teams; manage outside counsel.
