Position Summary

The Senior Commercial Counsel provides strategic legal advice on a broad range of commercial transactions, including drafting and negotiating complex, global agreements such as master service, supplier, and power generation contracts. The role involves supporting power plant operations, construction projects, and corporate transactions. Preferred locations are Houston and Kansas City, but other locations may be considered.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements related to energy and power generation.
  2. Provide legal advice aligned with strategic and operational goals.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the full lifecycle of transactions.
  4. Act as a trusted legal advisor, balancing risk and business objectives.
  5. Conduct risk assessments and develop practical solutions.
  6. Communicate legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
  7. Lead dispute resolution efforts and monitor industry trends.
  8. Drive process improvements and build scalable legal infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
  1. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active State Bar membership.
  2. 5+ years of legal practice experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house roles.
  3. Experience negotiating complex contracts in technical/industrial contexts.
  4. Strong legal judgment, analytical skills, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  5. High discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
  6. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  7. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Ability to work strategically and collaboratively.
  9. Willingness to travel, including internationally.
  10. US work authorization; sponsorship not available.
  11. Successful completion of pre-employment screening.
Desired Qualifications
  1. Familiarity with energy market agreements, EPC, PPA, project finance, or development.
  2. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
