Job summary

Berkley Southeast Insurance Group (BSIG) in Alabama is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to lead the handling of commercial general liability claims, from investigation through resolution, while delivering exceptional customer service.

You will manage bodily injury and property damage claims, negotiate settlements within authority, and maintain accurate reserves and claim files, with remote work considered for highly qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years casualty claim experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of tort and contract law; experience auditing casualty claim files.
• Independent adjuster licenses for AL, GA, MS, NC, SC & TN or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Review new losses and manage claims through coverage analysis, investigation, damages evaluation, reserving and resolution on non-litigated casualty claims.
• Manage bodily injury, auto material damage and total loss claims processes.
• Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.
• Negotiate settlements within authority limits.
• Participate in regional round table meetings.
• Write Reservation of Rights and Coverage Denial letters and other complex correspondence.
• Maintain a diary system and document claim file activities.
• Manage file inventory and ensure timely resolution of cases.
• Handle files in compliance with state regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service to insured, agent and others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
