Building Maintenance Systems, Inc. in Arlington, VA, is seeking a Lead Building Engineer to manage day-to-day building operations and preventive maintenance for a commercial property.

The role covers electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related trades, collaborating with property management to maintain tenant safety and comfort, respond to service tickets, and uphold a high standard of building reliability.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years maintaining equipment and systems in commercial buildings.
• Possess demonstrated high-level mechanical skills and abilities with HVAC equipment.
• High-level experience and skills in operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment.
• Basic technology skills necessary to manage work order applications on mobile phone and learn to operate Building Automation Systems.
• High School diploma or equivalent, and must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Occasionally work overtime to perform necessary repairs or maintenance that are necessary to complete during off-hours.
• Must meet the occupation requirements, such as lifting 50 lbs., walking distances, kneeling for 1 hour, and climbing ladders.
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must possess a CFC Universal certification

Responsibilities

• Perform building and systems inspections, making necessary modifications to building systems.
• Complete Preventive and Corrective Maintenance requests professionally.
• Work with vendors to complete contracted work orders to meet expectations.
• Maintain records, reports, and evaluations, and provide recommendations regarding necessary building maintenance operations.
• Identify and help to order parts, materials, equipment, and supplies that are needed.
• Manage Building Management System (BMS) / Energy Management System (EMS) as directed by Lead/Chief Engineer.
• Maintain a clean engineering shop, mechanical plant, mechanical rooms, and general appearance.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Perform related work as required
