Job summary

The Wake County Department of Tax Administration seeks a Senior Appraiser to perform real estate appraisals of commercial properties for ad valorem tax purposes in Raleigh, NC. You will provide fair and equitable assessments across a wide range of property types and will use top-quality equipment, software, data resources and professional development opportunities.

Required are an Associate's degree in Accounting or related field, three years of appraisal experience, and NC Real Property

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field is required.
  • Three years of experience in real or commercial property appraisal.
  • North Carolina Department of Revenue - Real Property Appraiser I within one year of employment.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Specialize in commercial property valuation for countywide revaluation and annual listing periods.
  • Review, analyze and implement all three approaches to value for all types of real property.
  • Review complex Income & Expense statements to determine value.
  • Analysis of different commercial lease types.
  • Site visits to gather physical and economic information to appraise properties.
  • Revalue land due to splits, combinations, new parcel creation and zoning changes.
  • Review information supplied by taxpayers and perform analysis to support and defend values during appeals.
  • Assist with other tasks as determined by real property managers.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to the staff in the absence of Appraisal Manager/Supervisor.
