Job summary
Travelers is seeking an Underwriting Officer, Commercial Accounts, to serve as a subject matter expert in underwriting for a field leadership team. You will educate underwriters, lead CURE evaluations, and shape underwriting strategies to influence profitability and growth for an assigned group.
The ideal candidate has extensive commercial underwriting experience, strong risk judgment, and the ability to coach others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Eight or more years of commercial underwriting experience with commercial accounts.
- Expert knowledge of risk appetite, product lines, regulatory environment, and local market.
- Strong critical thinking to identify and address underwriting and financial challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead and influence others.
- Must have at least 6 years of commercial underwriting experience.
Responsibilities
- Assess, design, implement, and/or lead underwriting strategies for the assigned group.
- Oversee and influence underwriting execution through risk/portfolio CUREs and evaluate underwriter proficiency.
- Develop underwriting capabilities and best practices through coaching and trainings.
- Monitor trends, emerging issues, and results for the assigned book of business and partner with leadership to take action.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
