Job summary

Redeemer Health is seeking a Senior Coding Specialist to assign ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 codes in an acute care setting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with CMS, UHDDS, and Coding Clinic guidelines.

The role supports education programs, conducts quality assessments to maintain at least 95% coding accuracy, and collaborates with the Coding Coordinator to advance documentation improvement and staff development.

Qualifications

• Requires RHIT or RHIA preferred or CCS credential (or plan to sit for CCS within 1 year).
• Minimum 1 year coding experience in acute care using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4.
• Graduate of an accredited hospital-based coding program or college coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Pathophysiology/Pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 codes per guidelines.
• Meet 95% coding quality target and productivity standards.
• Assist Coding Coordinator with education programs for coding staff.
