Job summary

Providence St. Mary Medical Center is seeking a credentialed coder/abstractor to assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10, and CPT across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role covers inpatient, outpatient clinical, ER, same-day surgery, and observation with adherence to AHA and UHDDS guidelines.

Required are national certification and at least 1 year of CPT/ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience. Join a team focused on accurate coding and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient, outpatient, ER, same-day surgery, and observation using DRGs, APCs, ICD-10, CPT.
• Ensure coding complies with AHA and UHDDS guidelines.
• Perform coding under general supervision at Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

Job description

Under general supervision appropriately assigns DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines. This is a credentialed coder/abstractor position responsible for coding levels up to and including Inpatient – All types of cases, Outpatient Clinical, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Observation.

Required Qualifications:

• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders. Or
• National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association or National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association
• 1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree: Medical Record Technology.
• Coursework/Training: Completion of a certified coding program with intense anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology.
• 3 years of Inpatient coding in an acute care setting.
• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.
