Job summary

Providence seeks a credentialed coder/abstractor to assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT across inpatient, outpatient clinical, ED, same-day surgery and observation settings.

Under general supervision, you will ensure coding aligns with AHA and UHDDS guidelines, contributing to accurate patient records and billing processes in a compassionate healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• National certification from AAPC or AHIMA required at hire.
• AHIMA CCS/RHIA/RHIT or AHIMA certification(s) listed for consideration.
• 1 year CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to patient accounts per AHA/UHDDS guidelines.
• Code inpatient, outpatient, ER, same-day surgery and observation cases.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with official guidelines.

Under general supervision appropriately assigns DRGs, APCs, ICD-10 and CPT to all patient account types according to AHA and UHDDS guidelines. This is a credentialed coder/abstractor position responsible for coding levels up to and including Inpatient - All types of cases, Outpatient Clinical, Emergency Room, Same Day Surgery, and Observation.

Required Qualifications

• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders. Or


• National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association or National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association or National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association


• 1 year of CPT and ICD-10-CM acute care hospital coding experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree: Medical Record Technology.


• Coursework/Training: Completion of a certified coding program with intense anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease process and pharmacology.


• 3 years of Inpatient coding in an acute care setting.


• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.
