Job summary

Providence Swedish Health Services seeks a Coding Quality Educator to support clinician/coder training and department education, identifying and delivering education on coding and documentation improvement opportunities. The role may conduct independent reviews/audits and provide documentation to back coding reviews, educating staff based on findings to improve accuracy and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Certification in clinical coding or related health information management required at hire.
• Experience with medical insurance reimbursement, billing and RVU reviews preferred.
• Familiarity with patient accounting information and explanations of benefits.

Responsibilities

• Assist clinician/coder training and ongoing department education.
• Identify, develop and deliver coding and clinical documentation improvement education.
• Conduct independent or collaborative clinician/coder reviews/audits and educate based on findings.
• Provide documentation to support coding review work and education based on results.

Coding Quality Educator will assist with clinician/coder training and ongoing department education as well as assist with the identification, development and delivery of new and ongoing clinician education and training related to coding and clinical documentation improvement opportunities. In addition, the role may conduct independent and collaborative clinician/coder reviews/audits and provide documentation to support the coding review work performed and educate based on findings.

Required Qualifications:

• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders or
  • Upon hire: National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association or
  • Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association or
  • Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association or
  • Upon hire: National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association or
  • Upon hire: National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association or
  • Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association or
  • Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association.
• 5 years' experience in medical insurance reimbursement, medical billing, and coding related to charge review and work RVU’s.
• 5 years' experienced in reviewing patient account information, insurance explanation of benefits, and financial records.
