Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Code Enforcement Officer to lead complex code enforcement, inspections, and enforcement actions across property types. This role requires expertise in enforcement procedures, legal interpretations, and coordinating with police, fire, and legal teams.

You will testify in courts, manage habitual nuisance properties, and mentor junior officers while advancing department initiatives and ensuring compliance with city codes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of municipal, state, and federal regulations.
• Ability to interpret, educate, and apply regulations to correct compliance issues.
• Ability to provide calm, professional customer service.
• Ability to lead complex projects and oversee work of others.
• Ability to prepare and deliver testimony for municipal and district courts.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex code enforcement investigations and multi-property inspections.
• Manage a caseload of high-priority code and safety cases.
• Collaborate with Police, Fire, attorneys, and external agencies.
• Provide testimony in municipal and district courts as an expert witness.
• Mentor junior officers and support department initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
