Job summary

City of Dallas is hiring a Code Enforcement Manager to lead daily operations, set goals, and ensure effective code enforcement with accountability and strong customer service. The role oversees budgets, staff supervision, and cross-department coordination.

The Manager will supervise inspectors, ensure compliance with laws, and represent the department in meetings and hearings, driving improvements in enforcement accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any field.
• Four (4) years of experience in interpreting/enforcing codes or related regulatory work.
• Two (2) years of supervisory or project management experience in at least two areas.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of the division and staff; delegates tasks and ensures compliance with policies.
• Sets short-, mid-, and long-term goals; develops schedules, priorities, and standards; monitors progress.
• Assists in budgeting, reviews submissions, and handles vendor and contract payments.
• Directs code enforcement activities and audits inspections and reports.
• Provides training and keeps staff certified with current code trends and enforcement methods.
• Represents the department to City officials and external agencies, negotiating solutions as needed.
• Attends hearings and takes necessary actions on decisions or inquiries.
