Job summary

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, three years of relevant experience, and a Florida license in one of several plan examiner areas, or eligibility to obtain within thirty days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years' experience in general building construction, code interpretation, building inspection, and plan review specialties.
• State or professional license in Building Plans Examiner, Plumbing Plans Examiner, Mechanical Plans Examiner, or Electrical Plans Examiner, or eligible substitute licenses.

Responsibilities

• Interprets and applies building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire, life/safety, energy, accessibility, pool, and other codes to plans and documents.
• Identifies non-compliance issues and requires corrections to achieve code compliance before permits are issued.
• Performs field inspections of buildings and systems and assists field inspectors as needed.
• Maintains plan review records, checklists, and data in computer systems; prepares status reports and documents.
