Job summary

UES, a leading geotechnical and environmental services firm, is seeking a Plans Examiner to review building plans for code compliance in a fast-paced team environment. You will verify plans meet local codes, coordinate with architects and engineers, and prepare formal reports outlining findings and recommended revisions.

The ideal candidate has a Florida Building Plans Examiner license, CAD familiarity, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
Ability to pass a background check under Florida law.
Strong knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
Active State of Florida Building Plans Examiner license.
Familiarity with CAD software and plan review tools.
Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to read and write technical documents and reports.
Solid mathematical skills for measurements and conversions.
Good reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication with architects, engineers, and clients.

Responsibilities

Examine building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with codes and zoning laws.
Identify discrepancies and collaborate with applicants to resolve them.
Verify plans accurately depict construction and local standards.
Prepare written reports with findings and recommendations for revisions.
Communicate plan revisions and code compliance with stakeholders.

Utilize software tools to conduct electronic plan reviews and documentation.

Ensure proper formatting, grammar, and clarity in all documents.
