Job summary

State of Rhode Island, Department of Administration (DOA) is seeking a COBOL Programmer-Senior to support COBOL development on IBM Power 9 iSeries and mainframe systems. The role focuses on COBOL, CICS, SQL, interfaces, and database support for ETSS/OIT initiatives in Cranston with hybrid/remote options.

The candidate will work across mainframe and AS400 environments, develop and document interfaces, and provide runtime support, reporting, and migration tasks as part of modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ COBOL programming experience
• Experience with IBM Mainframe environments and related tools
• Familiarity with JCL, CICS, SQL, ADABAS/IBM DB2 services

Responsibilities

• Provide COBOL, JCL, and CICS programming support and updates to existing applications
• Develop and maintain interfaces between mainframe systems and other agencies
• Generate operational, status, and usage reports as requested
