Job summary

Cloud and Things is seeking a COBOL Developer to maintain, enhance, and modernize enterprise applications in a mainframe environment. You will help ensure stable, efficient operation of critical business processes, support batch jobs, perform testing, and contribute to production support and documentation.

This exempt role is based in New Jersey with a salary range of $95,000 to $105,000, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or combination of experience and education.
• 5+ years of COBOL development and maintenance.
• 3+ years IBM mainframe environment experience.
• 3+ years JCL and batch processing.
• 3+ years CICS, DB2, VSAM or equivalent.
• 2+ years maintenance, troubleshooting, production support.
• 2+ years testing, debugging, defect resolution.
• 2+ years translating requirements into tasks.
• Experience across full SDLC activities, including design, development, testing, implementation, and support.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, test, and support COBOL applications in a mainframe environment.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective application solutions.
• Modify existing programs to correct defects, improve performance, and support changing business needs.
• Write, execute, and document unit tests and support system and user acceptance testing.
• Develop and maintain JCL for batch processing and job scheduling.
• Work with databases and file structures to support application functionality and data integrity.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement timely resolutions.
• Prepare technical documentation, including program specifications, testing results, and support procedures.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, testers, and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Support deployment activities and post-implementation validation for application updates and enhancements.
