Job summary

EXALTA Group, located in Marquette, Michigan, seeks an experienced CNC Setup Technician to join our advanced manufacturing team. The role requires hands-on setup of complex machine tools, coordination to meet production schedules, and collaboration with design transfer and engineering to improve processes.

You will train operators, ensure safety and quality, perform first-piece checks, and document setup data in SAP and other systems.

Qualifications

• CNC Machining Certificate or associate degree required.
• 5+ years CNC experience in production environment preferred.
• Experience setting up multiple machines and machine types.

Responsibilities

• Complete complex machine set-ups.
• Coordinate and complete set-up activities to meet production schedules.
• Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machines tools used to perform precision machining operations.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
• Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Maintain machine tools in proper operational efficiency.
• Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
• Assist Engineers with Design Transfer Process, as needed and collaborate to continuously reduce non-value-added activities during setups.
• Perform first piece quality checks to ensure product conformity prior to release to production Operators.
• Post-production setup data using SAP system software and additional operational systems.
• Maintain machine to appropriate manufacturer recommendations to ensure safe machine operations.
