Job summary

Actalent is seeking a skilled NC Programmer in Wichita, KS, to write and modify CNC programs for multi-axis parts and perform on-the-floor start-ups and support. The role requires extensive CATIA v5 and five-axis/Mastercam experience, with emphasis on precision, efficiency, and meeting tight deadlines.

The candidate will interpret customer blueprints and specifications, optimize tooling strategies, and contribute to process improvements in a fully onsite manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• Experience with CATIA v5 and Mastercam for CNC programming.

Responsibilities

• Write and modify CNC programs and detailed instruction sheets for multi-axis machined parts, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
• Coordinate CNC program start-ups and provide on-the-floor support during initial runs.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues and recommend cutting tools and strategies.
• Monitor CNC program performance to improve quality, cycle time, and tool life.
• Evaluate requests for new or modified CNC programs including feasibility, cost, and time estimates.
• Maintain organized program files, documentation, and revision histories.
• Analyze and review existing CNC programs to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Adapt programs to meet changing customer requirements and industry standards.
• Interpret blueprints, specs, POs, tooling concepts to develop accurate machining solutions.
• Prepare reports and procedure manuals related to CNC programming and improvements.
• Apply geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios to machining problems.
• Work independently to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
