Job summary

Voyager Technologies is seeking a CNC Machinist & Programmer to set up, operate, and optimize multi-axis CNC equipment to produce high-precision components. This includes 5-axis milling and CNC turning ranging from aluminum to superalloys.

This machinist will provide direct machinability feedback to the design engineering team, influence tolerancing and feature geometry before designs freeze. This is a development environment where the right candidate will shape the machining strategy from the

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree in machining technology preferred.
• 7+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
• 3+ years with multi-axis lathes and 5-axis mills for complex tight-tolerance parts.
• 3+ years machining hardened metals including nickel-based alloys, stainless steels, and high-temp superalloys.
• Extensive CNC controls experience with Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma, Heidenhain or Siemens.
• Excellent blueprint reading with GD&T ASME Y14.5; CAM/CAD experience required.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (CMM, micrometers, bore gauges).
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced, cross-geo environment.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and operating multi-axis CNC milling machines (3–5 axis) per drawings and plans.
• Setting up and operating CNC lathes and turning centers.
• Interpreting drawings with complex GD&T and planning machining sequences.
• Providing machinability feedback to design engineering on tolerancing and fixturing.
• Evaluating and recommending machines for long-term production plans.
• First-article machining for new parts; optimize feeds, speeds, tool paths, fixturing.
• In-process measurements with precision instruments and offset adjustments.
• Support post-processing of AM parts and tooling/inventory management.
• Document machining results and process parameters for knowledge capture.
• Support Cp/Cpk studies and basic preventive maintenance.
