Job summary

Accelera in Detroit, Michigan is seeking a senior CNC Machinist to lead the full production cycle for high-precision aerospace and industrial parts. You will set up multi-axis milling and turning centers, optimize tooling and speeds, and develop fixtures while ensuring GD&T compliance and First Article inspections.

The role also involves mentoring junior machinists, using CMMs for in-process checks, and driving continuous improvements in a low-to-medium volume shop.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a decade of CNC machining experience in a precision-focused facility.
• Experience with 4-axis or 5-axis CNC centres.
• Expertise in workholding for complex geometries.
• Proven First Article Inspections and reporting experience.
• Strong GD&T interpretation and application.
• Experience with CMMs and precision inspection tools.
• Knowledge of machining parameters and tooling for alloys (titanium/advanced materials a plus).
• Background with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 4- or 5-axis CNC milling and turning centers.
• Optimize tooling, offsets, and speeds to meet tolerances.
• Develop fixtures and workholding for intricate parts.
• Oversee First Article Inspections and documentation.
• Use CMMs for in-process quality checks.
• Troubleshoot tool wear and process issues to maintain production.
• Interpret blueprints and GD&T to ensure compliance.
• Maintain detailed production logs and setup docs.
• Propose process improvements to boost throughput and quality.
• Mentor junior machinists on the shop floor.
