Job summary

The role requires 1–2 years of machining experience, strong shop math, and ability to interpret blueprints. Excellent attention to tolerances and tooling upkeep are essential; Hopkins-lean practices encouraged.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Applied Science Degree in Machine Tool Technology.
• High school diploma with machinist training acceptable.
• 1–2 years of machining experience.
• Solid shop math, feeds and speeds knowledge.
• Ability to interpret blueprints with GD&T.
• Good dexterity operating lathes and machine tools.
• Ability to maintain tight tolerances consistently.
• Capable of reading and modifying CNC programs.

Responsibilities

• Machinist writes and runs CNC programs for parts and tooling.
• Set up machines, jigs, fixtures per setup docs and quality checks.
• Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers and gauges to spec.
• Diagnose machining and tooling issues; apply Lean improvements.
• Maintain machines via autonomous maintenance and upkeep maintain.
