Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a High Rate Machinist at the Rocket Center site in West Virginia. The role focuses on operating manual and CNC machines, recording SPC data, and collaborating to improve safety, quality, and cost. Relocation assistance may be available.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and at least five years of machining experience, with the ability to work all shifts within a union environment and to read blueprints and measure parts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the operation of manual and/or CNC machining equipment.
• Ability to work all three shifts as required within a union environment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to read and take measurements using digital and manual inspection equipment.

Responsibilities

• Run production parts on Manual and CNC machining equipment.
• Record SPC characteristics of manufactured parts.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supervision, and Mission Assurance to improve safety, quality, and cost.
• Train other machinists and operators to safely and accurately manufacture parts.
• Mount tooling and align tools; perform touch-offs on X, Z, and Y axes; produce first parts and submit to inspection.
• Make changes based on inspection results to achieve first piece acceptance.
• Ensure gages and documentation are present in the work area.
• Note tool changes; operate processes per procedures and setup sheets.
• Support R&D efforts by collaborating with engineers.
