Job summary

Acme Industries is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for 1st shift in Elk Grove Village, IL. You will read prints, set up basic operations, and run close-tolerance work on various castings and forgings for aerospace and other demanding programs.

You’ll own part quality from setup through inspection in a job shop that values adaptability and craftsmanship. ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D guide our quality system.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CNC machining in precision manufacturing, job shop, or contract environment.
• Demonstrated ability to hold close tolerances consistently ±0.001 or tighter.
• Strong blueprint reading including GD&T, surface finish, material specs, tol interpretation.
• Proficiency with standard precision measurement tools: calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, height gauges, dial indicators.
• Ability to perform simple to moderate CNC setups independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC centers and/or lathes to produce precision components per drawings and quality plans.
• Run close-tolerance work and monitor in-process conformance with measurement tools.
• Adjust tool offsets to maintain tolerance as tools wear.
• Identify tool wear, chatter, and process issues and report to setup supervisor.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance requirements.
