Acme Industries, located in Elk Grove Village, IL, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist on 1st shift to program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes. You will read drawings, hold tight tolerances, and inspect parts to ensure conformance with travelers and quality plans.

The role emphasizes ownership of part quality, adaptability to diverse jobs, and adherence to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D standards in a shop that values skilled machinists.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing, job shop, or contract environment.
• Ability to hold close tolerances consistently (±0.001? or tighter).
• Strong blueprint reading including GD&T and tolerance interpretation.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.).
• Ability to perform simple to moderate CNC setups independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling and/or turning equipment to produce precision components per drawings and travelers.
• Read prints, set up tooling, verify first piece, and run close-tolerance work.
• Perform in-process and final inspection per control plan; document results.
• Adjust offsets and tool wear; communicate issues to supervision.
• Support setup machinists on more complex setups and ensure quality and safety.
