Job summary

Quality Vision International Inc. in Rochester, NY is seeking a seasoned CNC lathe setup operator to set up, program, and run CNC lathes to produce precision parts with tight tolerances.

This is a senior level position with training for the right candidate. You will read blueprints, interpret drawings and GD&T, verify dimensions with calipers, and collaborate with engineering to improve processes while following safety and 6S standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-10+ years of experience operating CNC lathes in a precision machining environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
• Strong understanding of G-code and CNC programming fundamentals (experience with Fanuc).
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be reliable.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe(s), ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations.
• Utilize calipers and other measuring tools to ensure accuracy of dimensions and tolerances.
• Collaborate with engineering and operation team members to achieve quality standards and production efficiency.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment according to 6S policies.
• Play a pivotal role in prototype designs with critical optical components.
