Horst Engineering and Manufacturing in East Hartford, CT is hiring a CNC Machinist – Lathe (Level II/III) for 1st or 2nd shift. You will set up and operate 2‑axis and multi‑axis lathes, read blueprints, and verify part tolerances. The role requires strong trouble‑shooting, tooling changes, and training junior operators.

Excellent benefits include PTO, holidays, 401K match, and tuition reimbursement. 100% on-site position with shift differential on the 2nd shift.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus.
• Minimum 3 years set-up experience in a machine shop.
• Experience with aerospace parts and close tolerances is a plus.
• Familiar with Fanuc and/or Okuma controls.
• Able to read blueprints, operation sheets and specifications.
• Able to read CNC programs and perform edits when needed.
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Five plus years of diverse machining experience is advantageous.
• Must be able to read and write comments and paperwork.

Responsabilités

• Set up and operate CNC lathes (2-axis and multi-axis).
• Interpret blueprints, operation sheets and travelers.
• Perform complex set-ups and tooling changes as required.
• Verify material specs and conduct dimensional inspections.
• Train and assist other operators; resolve machining problems.
• Ensure parts meet quality standards and record data in systems.
• Maintain equipment and shop area; communicate shortages.
