Job summary

HORST ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING CO is seeking a Manual Machinist for our East Hartford, CT plant. You will set up and operate lathes, mills, and grinders to fabricate components to tight tolerances.

The role requires reading blueprints, measuring parts with precision tools, and maintaining equipment while following safety protocols. This is a first-shift, in-office position with comprehensive benefits and room for skilled growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience as a manual machinist or in a similar machining role preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Set up and operate manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate parts.
• Measure and inspect finished products using precision instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards and tolerances.
• Maintain and adjust machines to optimize performance and prevent defects or downtime.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Document work performed and maintain accurate records of production and maintenance activities.
