Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a Dimensional Metrology Engineering Technologist to join the PF-AM group in Los Alamos, NM. You will program CMMs, validate dimensional measurements, and mentor teammates, ensuring parts meet design specifications.

The role requires extensive CMM expertise, GD&T, and M&TE knowledge, with collaboration across engineers, machinists and quality professionals to uphold precision standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science or related field with 8 years of related experience.
• Expert knowledge in programming, operating and calibrating CMMs in a manufacturing environment.
• Expert knowledge of GD&T and its application to ensure accurate dimensional measurements.
• Expert knowledge using M&TE (e.g., surface roughness testers, height gauges, calipers, micrometers) in high-precision inspection labs.
• Proficiency with CMM software: QUINDOS, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks or Calypso.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Design for Manufacturability Reviews and ensure dimensional inspection requirements are achievable.
• Select appropriate M&TE based on Total Uncertainty Ratio (TUR) to meet design specs.
• Perform precise dimensional inspections and verify compliance with drawings.
• Write optimized, user-friendly CMM programs.
• Provide technical support to internal and external customers and mentor junior team members.
