Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to perform day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems for the VA in a fully remote, full-time position.

The role requires strong cloud experience (AWS/Azure), Linux/Windows, automation, IaC, monitoring, and security compliance, with emphasis on collaboration with development, operations, and security teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, with production environments.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud, including services like S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows skills and system administration expertise.
• Proficient in automation scripting and IaC practices; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices to analyze data and situations.
• Detect, isolate, document, and resolve system outages; recover operations.
