Job summary

Alliant Insurance Services, Inc. seeks a senior infrastructure engineer to design, implement, and improve scalable infrastructure services. The role leads technical workstreams, mentors junior engineers, and drives reliability, security, and operational efficiency across hybrid cloud environments.

You will partner with Security, Network, Cloud, and Service Desk teams to ensure end-to-end resilience and auditable controls. Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of systems engineering, infrastructure operations, or related role.
• Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring junior team members.
• Experience with cloud hybrid architectures and identity integrations.
• Experience with compliance frameworks and audit evidence collection in regulated environments.
• Advanced experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, or related platform technologies.
• Experience designing hybrid connectivity, identity integration, observability, backup, recovery, or platform security patterns.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, regulated environments, or complex enterprises.
• Role-aligned certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Linux, cloud provider, or security-focused credentials).

Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure projects from design through implementation.
• Serve as primary escalation point for complex incidents; coordinate cross-team troubleshooting.
• Design and maintain secure configuration baselines for servers and core services; validate compliance.
• Own patching and lifecycle strategies for assigned platforms based on severity and impact.
• Develop system-specific runbooks; ensure procedures are clear and adopted.
• Mentor Systems Engineer I–II staff through pairing, reviews, and skill development.
• Implement automation to reduce manual work and improve consistency.
• Plan and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies; lead resiliency testing.
