Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Systems Administrator for a remote role serving the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. The position is 100% U.S.-based remote, with a Public Trust (MBI) clearance requirement and W-2 employment status.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in system administration with cloud focus, strong AWS expertise across EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, and security controls. Bachelor's in CS or related field is required; U.S. Citizenship is required for this opportunity.

Qualifications

• AWS and cloud-based infrastructure proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems and server hardware
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope
• Coordinate, direct, and perform complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
• Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT procedures
• Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels
• Ensure data/media recoverability through backups and archive operations
• Plan and implement server modernization and SOPs
• Conduct hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with standards and policies
• Work with Network and System Analysts to determine systems to be implemented
