Job summary

Vosper Thornycroft Group in Chantilly, VA is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, modernize, and maintain software applications and cloud-based solutions for complex projects.

You will work with customers, systems analysts, engineers, and development teams to implement robust code, cloud migrations, testing plans, and documentation, using Java, JavaScript, Python and XML in Windows or Unix environments.

Qualifications

• BS degree and 11–15 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with multiple programming languages including Java, JavaScript, Python, and XML.
• Experience developing, managing, and maintaining web-based software applications.
• Experience with cloud services and developing cloud-based applications.
• Experience in Windows and Unix environments.
• Experience using source code repositories and version control tools such as Git.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and development methodologies.
• Familiarity with unit and integration testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and maintain software applications to support project requirements and infrastructure operations.
• Develop new applications within cloud environments and support the migration and modernization of legacy applications to the cloud.
• Provide database architecture and design capabilities to support application development and system performance.
• Develop unit and functional test plans to validate software functionality and reliability.
• Provide operations and maintenance (O&M) support for operational software systems.
• Troubleshoot software defects and retest applications to verify expected results.
• Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and other technical personnel to identify project limitations and interface specifications.
