Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Principal Security Architect to lead security architecture for a major AWS-centric program handling trade secrets and sensitive IP. You will own the security posture across cloud platforms, data flows, identity, and third-party integrations, and guide architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.

You’ll develop scalable reference architectures and provide technical leadership across Security Architecture & Engineering, privacy, legal, and audit teams.

Qualifications

• Security depth sufficient to make sound judgment calls on real designs.
• Depth in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Demonstrated experience securing workloads handling trade secrets or highly sensitive IP.
• Strong understanding of secure application development and the secure SDLC.
• Strong experience in threat analysis and modeling.
• Exceptional critical thinking and analytical reasoning.
• Ability to translate technical risk into clear business language.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Experience developing and documenting architecture references, security guidelines, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the security architecture and risk posture for the assigned program; lead architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
• Drive risk acceptance where residual risk remains; develop reference architectures, design patterns, and security guidance.
• Collaborate with program leadership, engineering teams, and partners across Security Architecture & Engineering, privacy, legal, and audit.
• Provide technical direction to engineers and ensure secure deployment aligned with enterprise security standards.
• Mentor architects and engineers supporting the program.
