Job summary

EY is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer within Challenger in the United States, capable of acting as the hands-on authority for engineering practices that move AI-enabled services from experiments to dependable production use.

You will apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate infrastructure work, review complex designs, and guide architecture, performance, resilience, and cost decisions across multiple use cases. Travel up to 50% is required, with hybrid office options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• 9-12+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing and operating cloud, infrastructure, platform, or site reliability capabilities in production.
• Technical depth: a record of solving complex distributed-system problems and explaining why the solution will work.
• Cloud engineering: hands-on expertise with infrastructure as code, modern runtime platforms, networking, identity, and delivery automation.
• Production reliability: experience defining service objectives and using observability, capacity planning, and recovery testing to improve live systems.
• Incident leadership: evidence of investigating difficult failures and converting lessons into durable remediation.
• Automation judgment: strong coding skills and the ability to validate AI-generated outputs independently.
• Cross-team influence: mentoring engineers and guiding architecture decisions without formal delivery ownership.
• Travel and On-site requirements: up to 50% travel and hybrid office capability.

Responsibilities

• Build shared cloud foundations. Create reusable infrastructure, environment patterns, and deployment automation that help teams start quickly and operate consistently.
• Use AI-assisted engineering responsibly. Apply AI tools to accelerate development and investigation while reviewing, debugging, testing, and validating the code.
• Guide complex designs. Review architectures, migrations, and releases with trade-offs affecting reliability, security, performance, cost, or use cases.
• Strengthen production readiness. Define evidence required before launch and identify what must change when a service is not ready.
• Set reliability practices. Establish service objectives, observability standards, alerts, and operational reviews.
• Make cost and capacity visible. Test workloads and use performance and demand evidence for scaling decisions.
• Resolve difficult failures. Lead deep investigations across distributed services and test durable fixes.
• Prove resilience. Design performance tests, recovery exercises, and rollback paths.
• Turn lessons into reusable capabilities. Publish reference implementations and runbooks with intended use and limitations.
• Raise engineering capability. Coach engineers and transition capabilities to ongoing owners.
